"Eesti Lavaluule" – in English "Estonian Stage Poetry" – is a relatively new phrase in Estonian, as is the conception behind it for Estonians, despite the nation's rich oral traditions. This is why Sirel Heinloo and Toomas Leppik created the non-profit organisation – to provide new estonishing platforms and stages for the spoken word and poetry slam artists. The most recognized project of Eesti Lavaluule is TarSlämm – the monthly poetry slam event in Tartu, which is the university town of Estonia and from 2015 also one of the UNESCO Cities of Literature.
TarSlämm has become the biggest poetry live show in Estonia, a great meeting point for poets with different backgrounds and an inspiring stage with international guests.
Sirel Heinloo is a poet and a slam master. She has published her poetry in literary magazines and performed both at home and abroad: Reykjavík, Heidelberg and Copenhagen. Sirel is also a PhD student of Estonian literature and publishes book reviews in cultural newspapers and magazines.
Toomas Leppik is the guy who turns the microfon on and off again. Meanwhile he is the best MC of poetry slam in Estonia.
